Executive Director for Canada, Mexico and United States
As Executive Director, John Kristick will lead the team with the responsibility for organizing the bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ in Canada, Mexico and United States. He has unique experience for this role, given his previous work as the Managing Director of the U.S. bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™.
Before his current appointment, Kristick spent more than six years with the global advertising group, WPP. He joined WPP’s GroupM in 2011 to build its entertainment and sports practice through his leadership of GroupM ESP and IEG, as well as coordinating the wider WPP network of agencies in the practice of sports. This led ultimately to the establishment of ESP Properties, WPP’s first dedicated sports agency to serve sports and entertainment rights holders. Kristick was the Global CEO for ESP Properties.
Kristick’s involvement in international soccer spans more than two decades, as he has been involved in every FIFA World Cup™ since 1994, working on either sponsorship (1994 and 1998), broadcasting (2002 and 2006), bidding (2010) or marketing support (2014).
Prior to his 2009 work with the USA Bid Committee, Kristick was based in Europe for 15 years, with leading sports marketing companies. As Executive Director for Infront Sports & Media, he led all marketing and corporate communications from 2001 to 2008 – with clients ranging across all sports, including soccer, basketball, and winter sports.
Kristick is a graduate of George Mason University with a degree in Speech Communications. He is married and has three children.
